Gujarat Congress Struggling With ‘Exit, Entry’ Of Patidar Leaders

The Congress party is once again finding it difficult to get fighting fit in the Gujarat state. The assembly polls in the poll-bound state are going to be held later this year, the party is still struggling to acquire fresh talents. Patidar leader Naresh Patel is a case at this point.

After the exit of the Patidar leader and its working president, Hardik Patel, the party is wooing Mr. Patel, who is the current president of the Shri Khodaldham Trust and Leuva Patidar.

As per the party sources, the state Congress and AICC in-charge, Raghu Sharma, is in regular touch with Mr. Patel.

The proposal for Mr. Patel to join the Congress party is not a new thing. Recently, poll strategist Prashant Kishor had also recommended to the Congress that, In view of the upcoming Gujarat assembly polls, Mr. Patel has to be inducted into the party.

Insiders claim that if Mr. Patel decides to join the Congress party, he will be given a good position in the party and he will also be a significant figure in deciding the candidates in most of the seats in the Saurashtra region of the state.

Some in the party even claim that if the deal between the influential Patidar leader and the party is not happening soon, then it may be too late.

Many consider Mr. Sharma to be a political lightweight for a delicate meeting with Mr. Patel, so senior state leaders are pushing for a senior AICC hand to take participation in the talks.
