Rahul Gandhi Rules Out Alliance With TRS

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday ruled out any alliance with the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samiti) in Telangana and launched a scathing attack on TRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao, saying he was acting like a ‘King’ instead of CM. Addressing the ‘Rythu Sangharshana Sabha’ – farmers’ rally organized to highlight their plight – Rahul Gandhi said as soon as the Congress forms its government in Telangana state, farm loans up to 2 lakh INR will be waived and the farmers will get the proper MSP (minimum support price) of crops.

Rahul Gandhi said that while the dream of Telangana’s progress remained unfulfilled, only one family had ‘benefitted immensely’ after the state was carved out of Andhra Pradesh. He asserted that Congress would have no truck with the TRS party and the next assembly elections will be a direct fight between Congress and TRS.

Rahul Gandhi said any Congressperson who wants an understanding with the TRS could either switch over to that party or BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party).

He also asserted that Congress knew it will suffer politically but it stood with the people of Telangana to give them a new state in the year 2014. The Telangana people thought that a government for the poor will be formed but it did not happen and today there is a ‘King’ instead of a Chief Minister, Rahul Gandhi said.
