AAP (AAm Aadmi Party) has announced its Punjab Chief Ministerial candidate on Tuesday. Today, the party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal will announce their CM candidate for Goa. Kejriwal reached Goa on Tuesday evening and will hold a press conference today to make the announcement.
AAP party had decided that the Chief Ministerial face for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections 2022 would be one belonging to the Bhandari community. Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia made this info public. He also announced that the deputy CM for Goa will be one belonging to the Catholic community. If AAP forms a government in Goa then the cabinet members would be from all communities.
The most talked-about name for AAP’s CM face for Goa is Amit Polkar who belongs to the Bhandari community. This community forms the 35% population of Goa.
Who is Amit Polkar?
Amit Polkar is the person who sat on a hunger strike against the illegal construction of a bungalow in Old Goa Heritage premises. After his strike, the state administration had taken action against that structure.
During this strike, Arvind Kejriwal had met Polkar. Later, this led to the speculation of Polkar being the CM face for AAP.
Arvind Kejriwal neither confirmed Polkar’s face for CM nor denied the possibilities also. Amit Polkar turned as Politician from a lawyer and is contesting from the Santa Cruz constituency. Kejriwal accompanied Polkar in his last door-to-door campaign in Goa.
