Exit Polls 2022: BJP Set To Retain Uttar Pradesh; AAP May Win Punjab

Exit Polls 2022: On Monday, Exit Polls predicted that the BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) will return to power in UP (Uttar Pradesh), while the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) get power in Punjab state.

No exit poll could accurately predict the massive majority with 300+ seats for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh in 2017. This time, exit polls give BJP a range of seats between 211 – 240 in the state.

The SP (Samajwadi Party) has posted a good result, say exit polls, about 100+ seats, almost double its tally of 49 in the outgoing assembly, but nowhere near the halfway mark.

The most remarkable element in the election was the prediction for Punjab, which saw AAP winning its first major state. Some exit polls were giving as many as 100 seats to AAP, some between 60 and 100 seats.

The poll predictions suggested that Congress may have suffered the impact of intense infighting in Punjab state, with its state chief Navjot Singh Sidhu playing a major role in the exit of Captain Amarinder Singh. However, the BJP was not seen as a big player in Punjab even with the new allies.
