Sachin Pilot Arrested Outside Congress Office During Protests

In the wake of massive protests over Rahul Gandhi’s questioning by the Enforcement Directorate in an alleged money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper, senior Congress leader Sachin Pilot was detained outside the Congress headquarters today. According to reports, Mr Pilot was stopped and taken away in a police bus while attempting to reach the party headquarters.

Sachin Pilot told NDTV that he was being held at the Narela police station and that no reason had been given for his detention.

Mr Pilot claimed in a video statement from inside the police bus that he was only trying to get into the party office. He said, “This is a bad sign for democracy.”

“Our access to our office is being restricted. This tyrannical behaviour, in my opinion, is detrimental to democracy. It offends me. We will keep fighting for justice, “He added amidst support for Rahul Gandhi.

Mr Pilot’s supporters argue with the cops in a video posted to Twitter by Rajasthan Congress MLA Mukesh Bhakar. Still, he eventually agrees to board the police bus amid supportive sloganeering by Congress workers.
