UP election: PM Modi’s name, patronage enough to win, says AK Sharma

The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appointed its state A K Sharma, a former IAS officer, as its state vice president on Saturday.

Uttar Pradesh’s newly-appointed BJP vice president and former IAS officer AK Sharma said on Monday people of the state love Prime Minister the same way as they did in 2013-14.

The UP BJP president Swatantra Dev Singh made this announcement.

Sharma, who is known for delivering time-bound results, earned Modi’s trust as his secretary during his tenure as the Gujarat chief minister by successfully handling the Vibrant Gujarat campaign to get investments to the state.

“I will make every possible effort, and also enable other colleagues to make efforts,” he said in the Hindi letter that he also posted on Twitter.

Sharma thanked Singh, the state leadership, and the central leadership of BJP for appointing him as the vice-president of the UP BJP.

Singh also specified the work done by him as an IAS officer.

He said, “I have been a small partner in the long, successful, inclusive, and global saga of Modiji. This is his ‘kripaa’ that he has given me an opportunity,”

He added that as a member of the party, once again I take the pledge to give my best contribution in the interest of the country.

He was also handling affairs of the MSME (micro, small and medium enterprises) ministry, a prominent department working under the plan of the prime minister for the revival of the economy following the corona virus-triggered lockdown.
