60% Turnout in Uttar Pradesh Phase-4 Polls, Lower Than 2017

Uttar Pradesh Polls 2022: On Wednesday, Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections’ fourth phase reported a turnout of 60% which is lower than 2017.

Lucknow reported 66% voting. Besides Lucknow, Pilibhit, Fatehpur, and Rai Bareli have been outperformed. Pilibhit’s voter presence was at 67% whereas, in Lakhimpur Kheri where the 4 farmers have been killed in violence throughout a farm protest final October, it was recorded 65%.

Hardoi, the place where PM Modi campaigned for BJP reported 57% and Fatehpur reported 57.9%.  Sitapur district recorded a mean dip of 6.9% and the Sri Nagar constituency of Lakhimpur Kheri recorded an 11 percent drop in turnout.

Election Commission (EC) officers stated that voting was largely peaceable. The Samajwadi Party (SP) demanded a repoll in a couple of seats in Lucknow, Unnai, Sitapur, and Hardoi.

In the 2017 polls, out of the 58 seats, BJP had received 51, SP obtained 4, BSP got three, and BJP ally Apna Dal won one.

The distinguished candidates in the UP fourth phase elections 2022 are Samajwadi Party nationwide spokesperson Anurag Bhadauria, state legislation minister Brijesh Pathak, former SP minister Abhishek Mishra, former deputy speaker Nitin Agarwal. Totally 624 candidates are in the fray for this phase of elections.
