UP Elections 2022: Akhilesh Yadav’s main rival in his UP election will be Union Minister SP Singh Baghel. SP Baghel was once close to the SP (Samajwadi Party) leader’s father Mulayam Singh Yadav.
SP Singh Baghel, who is the BJP MP from Agra, is the party’s candidate from Karhal, Uttar Pradesh where Akhilesh Yadav is making his debut in the Uttar Pradesh state election.
Akhilesh Yadav said that whoever is chosen as the BJP candidate from Karhal will lose.
Earlier, Mr. Baghel had fought against Akhilesh’s wife Dimple Yadav, and lost.
After filing the nomination, SP Baghel said that he felt delighted that the party had chosen him to fight Akhilesh Yadav.
Mr. Baghel said that his main campaign points would be nationalism and development. He also added that the Karhal contest would be exciting.
SP Baghel started his career in the UP police and was in the security team of Mulayam Singh Yadav. Samajwadi’s founder brought him to fight his first Lok Sabha election in 1989 but he lost that year and in the next election also. He won for the first time in the 1998 national election.
From the SP party, Baghel first switched to BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party) and then to the BJP.
Bagel won the 2017 Uttar Pradesh election and the 2019 Lok sabha Election and was included in the PM Narendra Modi’s cabinet in the last year.
