PK Won’t Join Congress: Here’s What Went Wrong And Why It’s No Surprise

PK Won’t Join Congress: The Congress says poll strategist Prashant Kishor (PK) declined its offer to join the Party. PK tweeted, thanking Congress but not without a shot that the party has to show collective leadership.

There are two immediate reasons that ensured the deal was off. One was Prashant Kishor’s call to Ripun Bora on the day the latter joined the TMC (Trinamool Congress), which the Assam leader referred to at a press conference.

The contract between PK’s IPAC (Indian Political Action Committee) and the TRS (Telangana Rashtra Samithi) also evoked a cryptic tweet from Manickam Tagore, who is a close aide of Rahul Gandhi. He said, “How can we trust someone who is friends with your enemy.” His tweet also indicated that Rahul Gandhi never completely had faith in PK.

For PK, it was very crucial to have a completely free hand, as is his style. While working with the TMC, he called the shots, and someone like Mamata Benerjee fell in line. But PK became aware over time that Congress would never completely accept him.

In the end, a trust deficit on both sides took its role. There are many smiling faces and sighs of relief within the Congress party. The focus now would be on whether some of the valid suggestions from Prashant Kishor would even be considered.
