Brajesh Pathak has been made the new deputy CM in the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government.
Pathak contested the recently-concluded Uttar Pradesh assembly polls from Lucknow Cantt. and defeated his nearest rival Surendra Singh Gandhi of Samajwadi Party by a margin of 39512 votes.
He was served as minister of legislative, justice, and rural engineering minister in the previous Yogi Adityanath cabinet.
Brajesh Pathak won the 2017 Uttar Pradesh assembly election from Lucknow Central constituency on the BJP ticket by defeating Ravidas Mehrotra of the Samajwadi Party.
Lawyer by profession, Pathak was an MP of Mayawati-led BSP (Bahujan Samaj Party). He was a BSP Lok Sabha MP between 2004 and 2009 from Unnao.
Pathak joined BJP ahead of the UP assembly election 2017 in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other party leaders.
