On Sunday, Congress MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said the party’s chief in Punjab Punjab Navjot Singh Sidhu has not been among people in the past five years, and his use of sharp language against leaders has upset people, which are likely to affect his victory chances in the assembly elections.
Mr. Navjot Sidhu, who has been vocal on a number of state issues including drugs has used disrespectful language on public forums, said Mr. Aujla.
Mr. Aujla said, “Sidhu is a big leader. So many people look up to him and follow him. He should not use objectionable language against leaders including those of opposition parties. A big leader has to be disciplined in his speech because he has to lead the state and the country.”
Amritsar (East) is seeing a major battle where Sidhu will contest against former state minister and senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia. For this seat, AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) has fielded Jeevan Jyot Kaur. Amritsar holds a good prestige value for every party.
