Sukhbir Offers To Resign From SAD Chief’s Post, Party Leaders Say No

On Thursday, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal owned moral responsibility for the party’s defeat in the assembly elections and offered his resignation which was rejected by all the district presidents, SAD stated by a press release.

“The Shiromani Akali Dal president Badal, who met with district presidents, said that the SAD party and its well-being are highest for me. I have always acted in the party’s best interests. I am taking the moral responsibility for the defeat of the party and am ready to step down”, it said. However, the party leadership shot down his offer by bringing the record of the hard work and election campaign led by Sukhbir Singh Badal.

The SAD statement further said, “Giving the feedback at the meetings, the SAD leaders said at many places the voters didn’t even know the name of the AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) candidate but voted for AAP while adopting the narrative of badlav and this cost the SAD deadly”.
